DELEGATION: Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA) Chief Administrative Officer Darren Sandbeck and Regional Chief of Emergency Services Alicia Krawchuk gave Council an overview of their 2025-2030 Strategic Plan. The BRFA’s Board of Directors identified five organizational pillars, which includes financial stability, equipment and infrastructure readiness, operational excellence, administrative excellence and workforce development, and engagement and partnerships. Work has begun and will continue to lay the foundation for long-term excellence, ensure the BRFA has modern tools and facilities for world-class response, ensure the delivery of leading-edge emergency services, allow the BRFA to empower their workers and strengthen their leadership, along with building trusted relationships to lead with impact.
APEX UTILITIES: Council passed a motion to advise Apex Utilities Inc. that the Town does not want to amend the annual franchise fee percentage in 2026. The distribution franchise fee is currently 21 per cent of delivery revenue. Administration felt that an increase in the franchise fee percentage was not warranted.
BRIEFLY: A motion to provide a sponsorship for the Cold Lake First Nations’ Pow Wow was defeated.
Council passed a motion to confirm to Lakeland Industry and Community Association (LICA) the Town’s continued participation on their board and an appointment of a Council representative will be provided after the 2025 Municipal Election.
