The Town of Bonnyville will be holding a General Municipal Election on Monday, October 18, 2021 where voters will elect one Mayor and six Councillors. The positions of Mayor and Councillors are elected “at large”, meaning that each elected official represents every resident of the Town.
The Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA) governs municipal elections within Alberta. It sets out rules and regulations for candidates, donors, electors, third party advertisers and election administrators that must be followed before, during and after an election. The Town of Bonnyville has also passed Bylaw No. 1506-20, the Election Bylaw, which establishes rules specific to the Town of Bonnyville’s municipal election.
