Downtown Revitalization Program

The Town of Bonnyville set out to create a vision for the downtown core and main street and to establish strategies to guide revitalization efforts.

The area included in this program spans from 50 Ave. (Hwy. 28) from 55 St. (Hwy. 41) to the Bonnyville and District Centennial Centre. The downtown core, which spans from 51 St. to 28 St. and from 49 Ave. to 51 Ave., is also included in this program. A map of the designated area can be found below.

The Downtown and Main Street Streetscape and Urban Design Landscape Strategy provided a unified vision for main street, and created a unique visual expression that celebrates Bonnyville’s local identity. As a result of this strategy, Bonnyville’s Downtown and Main Street Architectural Design Guidelines were created. A downloadable copy of the guidelines can be found below.

The guidelines, which went into effect on March 1, 2026, establishes a local identity through architectural expression. It builds on existing architectural assets, incorporates the Town’s branding and themes, and creates warmth with wood and accent colours.
