CANCELLED MEETING: Due to Remembrance Day, the Regular Council Meeting that was originally scheduled for Nov. 11 has been cancelled. Town of Bonnyville Regular Council Meetings will resume on Nov. 25, 2025.
NLLS LEVY: Council passed a motion to accept the presented Northern Lights Library System (NLLS) Board 2026 Budget at a 1.5 per cent levy increase. This increase would bring the Town’s contribution to $5.47 per capita for a total contribution of $35,642.10.
DELEGATIONS: Council heard about the expansion in services to older ages at the Hive Youth Hub by Kickstand Bonnyville from Operations Lead, Grace MacLellan. The Hive is a low barrier, easily identifiable and youth friendly one stop shop that focuses on creating positive help seeking experiences, early identification, and intervention, supporting youth to manage their concerns and recovery, and facilitating a seamless connection to specialized services. The local organization currently offers their services to youth aged 14 to 21 in the Bonnyville area. Their goal is to expand the ages from 11 to 25 years old. Younger youths will need parents/guardians to be able to access the services prior to their first visit. Some of their programming will be opened to all ages while others are target based on age and interests. Council accepted the delegation as information.
Representatives from the Bonnyville and District Chamber of Commerce outlined their request for financial assistance from the Town for 2026. The funds go towards allowing the Chamber to advocate for and support local businesses. The total ask was $22,500, which included sponsorships for Chambers events like the Business Resiliency Awards, and a new program by the name of LIFT the Chamber is still in the planning phase for. Council accepted the presentation as information.
BRIEFLY: A sponsorship request from the Tribal Chiefs Employment and Training Services Association for their 25-year Celebration Job Fair and Gala was accepted as information and referred to the Town’s Economic Development Department for further discussion.
A letter of support was approved by Council for Go East of Edmonton Regional Tourism for their 2026 Travel Alberta Rural Development and Promotion Fund grant application. If successful, funding from the grant will be used for the promotion of the region in 2026 through effective, integrated and coordinated digital and major media marketing campaigns.
