The Bonnyville RCMP were involved in 175 investigations from June 30 to July 7.

On June 22 & 23, the Bonnyville RCMP partnered up with MD of Bonnyville’s Public Safety Peace Officers for a Joint Forces Operation (JFO) relating to Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.  Over the course of the two days officers issued tickets for offences with fines amounting to $824. They exercised discretion on many matters and issued warnings for offences that would have otherwise totaled $7205.00.

On July 1 at approximately 1:00 am, a white SUV crashed through a fence into a farmer’s field after failing to stop at the T intersection of Twp Rd 604 and RR 452 near Muriel Lake. It could not be determined whether the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol as he did not report the collision until 6 hours later at 7:00 am.  The 48-year-old male from Bonnyville was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for Driving Carelessly which carries a fined of $567.00.

On July 2 at 9:45 am, a member of the Bonnyville RCMP was on patrol and noted a pickup truck reported as stolen pulling into a driveway at a residence in Kehewin Cree Nation.  As the member pulled up behind the stolen truck, a male was standing at the driver’s side door with a loaded sawed-off shotgun, which he threw into the yard upon noticing the RCMP.  There were three other occupants in the stolen truck.  All four persons were arrested and charged:

On July 3 at 3:15 pm, a member of the Bonnyville RCMP was on patrol on Highway 657 and noted a vehicle driver known to be suspended.  A roadside check was conducted with the driver confirmed to be suspended from driving stemming from an Immediate Roadside Sanction from a previous impaired driving investigation. He provided a sample of his breath and again issued new Provincial Sanctions for driving while impaired and a charge of Driving while Suspended.  The vehicle was towed and will be seized for 30 days due to the suspension.

Sometime overnight on July 3, a 1997 black Dodge Ram truck with Alberta license plate CKN0091 was stolen from a residence on the 4300 block of 45 Ave.  Anyone with information on the location of this truck or who may have stolen it is urged to contact the Bonnyville RCMP.
