Sports Tourism Strategy Project

The Town of Bonnyville’s Sport Tourism Strategy

About the Project

The Town of Bonnyville is developing a Sport Tourism Strategy.  Through the development of this Sport Tourism Strategy the Town will be able to identify tactics and approaches to:

  • Better leverage sport and recreation assets that it owns, operates, or are a regional partner of;
  • Increase visitation during traditionally slower times of the year (and therefore supporting local hospitality and related businesses); and
  • Create opportunities for residents to enjoy or directly participate in sporting events (and therefore maximizing quality of life, community connectedness / vibrancy, and wellness).

Community Organization, User Group, and Tourism Operator Engagement

Community organizations, facility user groups, and tourism operators in the region will be engaged through a variety of ways, including discussion sessions and questionnaires.

The information gathered through the engagement and other research being conducted will help the Strategy identify focus areas and priorities for sport tourism investment.
