Starting October 1, 2026, the Town of Bonnyville is moving to an enhanced curbside recycling program managed by Circular Materials, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to building efficient packaging and paper recycling systems across Alberta.
This new program expands what can go into your recycling, making it easier than ever to give materials a second life, conserve natural resources, and protect our local environment.
What’s New?
Beginning October 1, all Albertans will be able to recycle expanded materials, including:
Glass containers
Paper laminates (e.g., disposable coffee cups)
Foam packaging
Empty aerosol containers
Flexible plastics and films
What to Expect Next
Schedule & Guide Delivery: Keep an eye on your mailbox! Detailed recycling schedules and updated collection guides will be delivered to residents in September.
Collection: Curbside recycling collection will continue, with the new system officially going live on October 1, 2026.

Councillor Phil Kushnir was elected on October 18,2021, and re-elected on October 20, 2025.
Phil was born in Bonnyville in 1961. He lives with his beautiful wife, Doreen. Phil and Doreen have roots that go way back in Bonnyville’s history.
He knows that there are many challenges that are going to be faced in the next four years. Phil believes that, along with the rest of council and Mayor Brosseau, we will not only overcome these challenges, but we will help the region prosper and grow for all the residents and businesses in the area.
