VISION ACTION PLAN: Council approved the 2024-2027 Vision Action Plan. The plan was developed as a tool to be utilized by Administration to turn Council’s priorities into actions and programs. This plan is updated annually to reflect completed items, changes in priorities and evolving Strategic direction.

LETTERS OF SUPPORT: The Town will be sending a Letter of Support for the Bonnyville and District Chamber of Commerce’s grant proposal sent to the Minister of Municipal Affairs, which if successful, would see the establishment of a grant aimed at providing financial assistance to rural Alberta businesses affected by rising crime rates.

Council passed a motion to send a Letter of Support to MLA Scott Cyr for improved provincial damage prevention legislation for underground utilities, as requested from Utility Safety Partners. The Town of Bonnyville has been a registered member of Utility Safety Partners for well over a decade. The nonprofit group coordinates and streamlines all the underground line location requests in Town that Public Works responds to.

BRIEFLY: Amending Bylaw No. 1560-24, a bylaw to amend Bylaw No. 1542-22 respecting Water, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Systems was provided all three readings. This will increase Utility Fees by four per cent, which will see Utility Service Fee at $13.67 per month and Consumption Fee at $2.75 per cubic metre.

Amending Bylaw No. 1561-24, a bylaw to amend Bylaw No. 1543-23 to Regulate the Collection, Removal and Disposal of Garbage, Refuse and Other Waste also received three readings by Council. This will increase the 2024 rates by four percent. This will now see the Garbage fee sitting at $13.96 per month and the Extra Cart Fee at $10.06.

Council ratified the purchase of an additional table for the 2nd Annual Victor Ringuette Sportsman Dinner at the cost of $800.
