Grade 6 Students Visit Town Hall

Feb 28, 2023 | Galleries

Grade 6 students from École des Beaux-Lacs learned about local government with some hands-on experience.

The class stopped by the Town of Bonnyville Administration Building this week for a tour of the facility. Town CAO Bill Rogers was the students tour guide. He gave the students background on the building and background on what staff does to keep the Town functioning.

Once the tour was complete, the students heard from Mayor Elisa Brosseau and Councillors Brian McEvoy and Kayla Blanchette about what a Municipal Council is responsible for.

The students also held their own Council Meeting. They had discussions about changing the Halloween curfew in Town and if cats should be put on leashes when they’re outside of their homes.

The Town welcomes any students learning about the different levels of government to stop by. Please call 780-826-3496 for more information.
