TOWN OF BONNYVILLE
COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
APRIL 11
PROCLOMATION: Deputy Mayor Kayla Blanchette declared April 21, 2023, as Lights on for AfterSchool Day in Bonnyville. Lights on AfterSchool is a province-wide initiative, which celebrates school age care programs and their role in keeping kids safe, inspiring them to learn, and supporting working families. AfterSchool programs build stronger communities by bringing together families, schools, and community partners to ensure the well-being of children. Town Administration will also be looking into local landmarks that can be ‘lit up’ with yellow and blue to celebrate the event.
DONATIONS: A $2,500 donation was approved for the Bonnyville Baptist Church to go towards improving the community disc golf course that was installed at 4210 34 Street. Features they are looking to add includes planting trees, creating a picnic area with a fire pit, and installing nine additional tee locations with signage. The target completion date for this project is May or June of this year.
A table for eight will be purchased for the Town for $1,000 at the Hearts for Healthcare 2023 Gala in Cold Lake. This will be the first time Town Council has attended this event. Although the funding request from Hearts for Healthcare is not a direct correlation to Council’s Strategic Plan, increasing services to healthcare closer to home would be a benefit to the Town’s residents as they may not have to travel to bigger centres for healthcare needs.
BRIEFLY: Representatives from Wilde & Company Accountants presented the Town’s audit. The accountants deemed it was a clean audit.
