Public Works Mission

Our mission is “to provide the quality and quantity of products and services required by the utility customers and ratepayers of the Town of Bonnyville in a timely manner and at a cost commensurate with the level of service desired”.

Utilities

The utilities are distinguished from the other functions in that these are not tax supported, but are operated as self-supporting business units, generating a surplus annually for the benefit of residents.

Bulk Water Fill Station

The Town of Bonnyville’s Bulk Water Fill Station is located at 5507 54 Ave., beside the Bonnyville and District SPCA. The cost of bulk water at the Town’s location is $6.50 per cubic metre. Those interested in making an account can call 780-826-3496 for more information.

Recycling Compound

The Town of Bonnyville has recycle bins for most types of recyclable items to reduce the amount of waste at our Transfer Station.

The Recycling Compound has bins for the following items:

  • Newspaper
  • Cardboard
  • Rinsed plastic containers
  • Office paper, magazines &
    books
  • Plastic shopping bags

As of April 1, 2025, the Town’s Household Hazardous Waste Depot was moved to the Landfill.

This change aligns with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Program, which shifts the responsibility for collecting, sorting, processing, and recycling residential hazardous waste from the Town and taxpayers to the producers.

The following items can be disposed of:

  • Electronics
  • Hazardous waste
  • Paint

Fall & Spring Clean-Up

The Town of Bonnyville hosts two Clean-Up events each year — one in the spring and one in the fall — giving residents a chance to dispose of yard waste, large furniture, appliances, compost materials, and even car bodies.

  • Spring Clean-Up takes place after the May Long Weekend

  • Fall Clean-Up follows the Thanksgiving Long Weekend

To help crews get started on time, make sure all items are placed in your back lane before 7:30 a.m. on the first day of collection.

Please note: dates for the Fall Clean-Up and Spring Clean-Up are announced by the Town prior to either event. Keep an eye on the Town’s social media platforms for updates.
